Defamation: Amid Confirmation Of Communication With Bobrisky, Falz Demands Retraction And Apology From VeryDarkMan Allegations In Viral Video [VIDEO, DOCS]
The legal team of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana has issued a formal letter demanding a retraction of defamatory statements made against his son, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz. The letter, signed by Taiwo E. Olawanle, Esq., responds to allegations linking Falz to a conversation with Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, about financial assistance and legal intervention.
Dated September 26, 2024, the letter addresses social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, who had insinuated in a post that Falz was involved in securing a presidential pardon for Bobrisky, who is facing legal trouble over Naira abuse charges.
According to the documents, Bobrisky allegedly asked Falz for N3 million to pay officials for VIP treatment during his detention. Falz reportedly advised against the payment and refused to provide financial support.
“To set the records straight, our client never initiated any conversation with Mr. Idris Okuneye. It was Mr. Okuneye who contacted our client on May 4, 2024, seeking legal advice and financial assistance,” the letter stated. Falana’s team emphasized that Falz had no involvement in any scheme and called the allegations “vicious, wicked, and reckless.”
The letter demands an immediate retraction of the defamatory statements within 24 hours, along with a public apology across all platforms where the remarks were made. Failure to comply would result in legal action, including seeking monetary damages. See the documents below>>>>>>>
The controversy stems from a viral audio released by VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky alleged that some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers demanded and received N15 million to drop charges against him. The EFCC has since ordered an investigation into the claims.
