Decomposing Body Of Abducted Anambra Lawmaker Found

Tragedy has struck in Anambra State as the lifeless body of Hon. Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency One, has been discovered weeks after his abduction.
Azuka was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunobamkpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas celebrations. After spending six weeks in captivity, his decomposing body was found at the Second Niger Bridge.
Confirming the development, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that a Joint Security Team, including the Police and Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), discovered the body during a rescue mission early Thursday. He added that security forces have taken control of the scene and are intensifying efforts to apprehend those responsible.
Azuka’s killing marks the second time a sitting Anambra State lawmaker has been kidnapped and murdered. In 2022, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, who represented Aguata Constituency One, was abducted alongside his aide, Cyril Chiegboka, and later found beheaded in Amichi, Nnewi South LGA.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
