Court Restrains Female Lawyer From Claiming Marriage To Ex-Skye Bank Chairman

An Abuja Customary Court has ruled that Ms. Adaobi Alagwu, an Abuja-based lawyer, cannot claim to be the wife of Tunde Ayeni, former chairman of Skye Bank.
The court’s decision followed Ayeni’s petition, in which he denied any marital relationship with Alagwu and sought a declaration that no marriage existed between them. He also refuted claims of being the father of her daughter, Omarosa.
Ayeni presented evidence of his legal marriage to his wife, Abiola, since 1994, countering Alagwu’s assertions.

The court noted that Alagwu admitted to receiving a dowry from Ayeni, but since the dowry was later refunded, no valid customary marriage could be established.
