Diddy’s Top Lawyer Withdraws From S*x Trafficking Case Ahead Of Trial

Embattled American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has suffered a major setback in his legal battle as his top defence attorney, Anthony Ricco, has stepped down ahead of his federal criminal trial on s*x trafficking and racketeering charges, scheduled for May 5, 2025.
Ricco, a highly respected attorney known for his involvement in high-profile cases, filed a motion before the New York Federal Court on Thursday, officially requesting to withdraw from Diddy’s legal team.
While the lawyer did not disclose specific reasons, his motion stated that his decision was based on “sufficient reasons protected by lawyer/client privilege.”
In the filing, Ricco emphasised:
“Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”
Diddy is currently facing over 30 civil lawsuits, alongside federal criminal charges, in what is shaping up to be a highly publicised legal battle.
Ricco’s withdrawal is subject to judicial approval, and it remains unclear how this will impact Diddy’s legal defence as the trial date approaches.
Known for his defence work in the Osama bin Laden case, Ricco’s exit raises questions about the rapper’s legal strategy moving forward.
