Court Issues Public Summons For Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Over ₦110.4bn Fraud Charges

Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has issued a public summons for the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, requiring him to appear in court to answer to 16 fresh charges against him. The summons mandates Bello to attend court on October 24 for his arraignment alongside two other defendants.

The ruling came after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) applied for the public summons, citing difficulty in serving Bello the charges, which were filed on September 24. The charges involve an alleged criminal breach of trust amounting to ₦110.4 billion.

Justice Anenih ordered the EFCC to publish the summons in a widely circulated newspaper and to post copies at Bello’s last known address, as well as in prominent locations within the court premises. The other two defendants named in the case are Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
