Court Adjourns Case Of Women Caught With Methamphetamine In Suitcases

An Accra High Court has adjourned for two weeks the trial of two South African women and a Nigerian national accused of possessing over 16 kg of methamphetamine.
The prosecution requested additional time to conclude investigations, a request granted by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie. The court also directed the Legal Aid Commission to provide legal representation for the accused.
The court registry has been instructed to ensure that the Legal Aid Commission receives all necessary proceedings. Meanwhile, the accused have been remanded into the custody of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
The suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed, were arrested on January 20, 2025, at Kotoka International Airport after authorities discovered the narcotics concealed in two suitcases. Their pleas are yet to be taken.
