Corporate Affairs Commission Denies Allegations Of Irregular Staff Recruitment

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has refuted claims of irregular staff recruitment made against its Registrar-General/CEO, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN.
In a statement issued via its official platform on Saturday, April 20, 2024, the CAC dismissed reports alleging that the Registrar-General hired over 100 graduates from his home state of Bauchi, purportedly disregarding the Federal Character Principle.
According to the statement signed by CAC management, Nigerians were urged to disregard these allegations. The Commission clarified that it adhered to due process in regularizing the status of contract staff inherited by the present management and recruited additional personnel to meet the administration’s objectives.
The statement highlighted the challenges faced upon Magaji’s assumption of office in October 2023, including a backlog of promotions and welfare-related issues. However, Magaji swiftly addressed these concerns, concluding the 2022 promotion examination upon obtaining necessary approvals. Many qualified candidates were subsequently promoted in line with legal provisions.
The Commission emphasized its commitment to efficient service delivery, stressing that all processes were conducted with due approvals and certifications from relevant agencies. It reiterated its dedication to advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ensuring progress and development at the Commission.
It’s important to note that the CAC, as a federal government agency, operates under constitutional directives to uphold the principles of Federal Character in civil service employment, reflecting Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
