CJN, AGF, EFCC Boss To Speak At Judiciary Reporters’ Conference On Thursday
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will inaugurate this year’s media conference organized by the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents (NAJUC) on Thursday in Abuja.
The conference, set to take place at the Hon. Justice Rose Ukeje Hall of the Federal High Court, aims to bring together key judiciary stakeholders to discuss pressing issues and propose solutions to challenges within Nigeria’s judicial system.
The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, will deliver a paper titled “Aftermath of Supreme Court Judgment on Local Government Financial Autonomy, What Next?”
According to a statement by Paschal Njoku, Secretary-General of NAJUC, the event will feature a keynote address by renowned human rights advocate and constitutional lawyer, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN.
Other notable speakers include:
- Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who will present a paper on “Local Government Fiscal Autonomy, Enforcement of Supreme Court Judgment and Role of EFCC.”
- Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, discussing “Democracy and Rule of Law: The Way Forward.”
- Malam Gambo Ahmed, Executive Secretary of the National Judicial Council (NJC), presenting on “The Role of NJC in Sanitising the Judiciary.”
The conference, themed “The Role of Courts in Enforcement of Judgments,” also focuses on the capacity building and training of judiciary reporters to align with international best practices.
NAJUC Chairman Kayode Lawal of Daily Post Media Organisation assured attendees that comprehensive arrangements are in place for a seamless event.
The gathering underscores NAJUC’s commitment to promoting the rule of law and fostering accurate, objective, and impactful reportage of judiciary activities across Nigeria.
