CHRIS AGIDY KIDNAP: NBA Abuja Branch Sues For Quick, Safe Resolution

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) is still grappling with the unsettling news of the kidnapping of their esteemed colleague and past secretary, Chris Agidy. The incident occurred on the 3rd of November 2023 but came to light only after the branch Chairman was contacted on Tuesday, the 5th of November 2023.
In response to the distressing news, the branch initiated a series of proactive measures. The Executive Committee (Exco) promptly visited the wife of Chris Agidy, expressing solidarity and support during this challenging time. Additionally, the branch officials visited the Kabusa Police station, where the incident was officially reported, engaging with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCO).
Demonstrating their commitment to seeking justice and resolution, the Exco members submitted a petition at the office of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, bringing the matter to the attention of law enforcement. The branch also communicated the kidnap incident to the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) FCT Command.
Grateful for the support received from their members who serve as senior officers in various security agencies, the NBA Abuja Branch acknowledges the solidarity shown during this trying period.
Since the unfortunate incident unfolded, the branch has maintained constant communication with the family of the kidnapped colleague. As recently as last week, the Chairman of the branch spoke with Chris Agidy’s wife, providing updates and expressing the association’s unwavering support.
In a show of solidarity and respect for their missing colleague, the NBA Abuja Branch cancelled its end-of-year programs, including the Elders’ Night and All White Party.
Acknowledging the challenges in obtaining detailed information due to security reasons, the branch emphasized the importance of direct communication with the family to gather accurate updates.
Isiaka Musa, Esq, the Secretary of NBA Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), assured members that the branch would continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
“The NBA Abuja Branch stands united in support of their kidnapped colleague and remains hopeful for a swift and safe resolution to this distressing situation” he said.
