Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Announces Resignation

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his decision to step down, stating that he will leave office once the ruling Liberal Party selects a new leader.
Trudeau, who has served as prime minister since 2015, made the announcement on Monday evening during a press briefing in Ottawa.
“I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister,” Trudeau said, following a prolonged political crisis that reportedly prompted key Liberal allies to call for his resignation.
Further details on his decision and the transition process are expected to emerge in due course.
