CAC Urges Nigerians To Leverage New Committee For Effective Dispute Resolution
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has called on Nigerians to utilize its newly launched Administrative Proceedings Committee (APC) for resolving disputes and grievances related to its services. Registrar-General Hussaini Magaji emphasized to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the commission is committed to serving public interests efficiently.
Established under Section 851 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, the APC, chaired by the Registrar-General, provides an alternative to costly and time-consuming court litigation. Magaji noted that the committee is equipped to address issues such as name rejections and administrative challenges swiftly and cost-effectively.
“The committee was created to handle grievances within the commission’s mandate, offering an alternative pathway to litigation,” Magaji explained. “It facilitates a fair and efficient resolution process for disputes, such as rejected entity names or registration disagreements.”
He highlighted that customers can file formal complaints directly to the APC’s chairman, ensuring prompt facilitation and resolution. This initiative aims to alleviate pressure on the judicial system and provide accessible solutions for registration-related conflicts.
In related news, the CAC is reinforcing its collaboration with the British High Commission on the Beneficial Ownership Register (BOR). During a recent visit by a delegation led by Mr. Chris Okeke, discussions focused on digitizing historical records dating back to 1912 to enhance transparency and ensure comprehensive data documentation for national development. Magaji remarked, “Securing and backing up these records is essential for national growth and effective data collaboration.”
