Borno State Judge Regains Freedom After Two Months in Captivity

Justice Haruna Mshelia of the Borno State High Court has been released two months after being abducted. Mshelia was kidnapped on June 24 while traveling with his wife, driver, and orderly along the Biu-Maiduguri road.

News of his release was shared on a WhatsApp platform for Borno lawyers, with the message reading, “Alhamdulillah, we have just received the news of the release of Justice Haruna Mshelia.” However, his wife and driver remain in captivity.

Mshelia, who was previously a private lawyer, joined the Borno State judiciary in May 2012 and is one of two high court judges selected from the state’s private legal practitioners.
