Bobrisky Sentenced to Six Months in Jail by Federal High Court

Cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos. The judgment was delivered on the morning of Friday, April 12.
The sentencing comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Bobrisky in court on April 5th, facing a six-count charge, including allegations of Abuse of the Naira and Money Laundering. While the court dismissed the money laundering charges, Bobrisky confessed to the Naira Abuse offense, leading to his conviction. The court further ordered his remand in EFCC detention in Lagos.
Initially scheduled for April 9, the hearing for judgment was adjourned due to the Eid-Fitri public holiday observed from April 9 to April 11. However, upon resumption, Justice Awogboro delivered the verdict, sentencing Bobrisky to six months in jail without the option of a fine.
