Banwo & Ighodalo Partner Mrs. Toyin Bashir To Speak At NILA Immigration Law Conference
Mrs. Toyin Bashir, a Partner at the esteemed law firm Banwo & Ighodalo and head of its Federal Capital Territory practice, is set to speak at the upcoming Nigerian Immigration Law Association (NILA) Conference on November 14-15, 2024, at the Janada International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation in Abuja. Bashir, with over 20 years of expertise in corporate commercial law, immigration, and regulatory compliance, will deliver insights on the conference sub-theme: Recent Changes in Immigration Laws and Policies: Spotlight on Passport Issuance, Visa Regime, Expatriate Quota Administration, and Citizenship Administration in Nigeria.
Recognized for her significant role in shaping Nigeria’s legal and regulatory landscape, Mrs. Bashir played a crucial part in the development of Nigeria’s Data Protection Act of 2023, providing legislative support to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Currently, she co-leads the team working with the National Identity Management Commission on amendments to its foundational law under the World Bank-funded Digital Identification for Development Project.
Her commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s business environment has earned her two awards from the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) for her contributions to the Ease of Doing Business Project. She also chairs the Regulatory Engagement Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), underscoring her active engagement in regulatory affairs impacting Nigeria’s business and legal sectors.
