Appeal Court Reverses Tribunal Judgement, Affirms Abdullahi Sule As Nasarawa Governor

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the victory of Abdullahi Sule as the Nasarawa State Governor.
A three-member panel of justices unanimously held on Thursday, November 23, 2023, that the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal erred in law in concluding that Sule, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not win majority of the votes cast in the election.
The appellate court subsequently set aside the judgment of the tribunal and affirmed the re-election of Sule as Governor of Nasarawa State.
David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled second with 283,016 votes, expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the election.
On October 2, the election tribunal in the state nullified Sule’s victory and declared Ombugadu as winner of the election. Dissatisfied with the judgement, Sule filed an appeal to set aside the judgement of the tribunal and affirm his election.
