Anambra Legislator Kidnapped By Gunmen On Christmas Eve

Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North Constituency, was kidnapped on Christmas Eve by armed men along Ugwunapampa Road in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The incident occurred around 9:20 pm on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, as the legislator was returning home for Christmas celebrations, according to the state’s police spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu.

In a statement, Ikenga confirmed that the police command has activated operational plans aimed at securing the lawmaker’s release and apprehending the perpetrators.

“The report of the incident indicates that on December 24, 2024, at about 9:20 pm, while returning home along Ugwunapampa Road, he was abducted by unidentified persons,” Ikenga said. “The command is working on leads to ensure his rescue and the arrest of those responsible. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”

This incident has sparked concerns among residents about security during the festive period, prompting calls for intensified efforts to ensure safety in the region.
