Alleged Cultism: Families Appeal Ogun Attorney General To Intervene In Children’s Legal Ordeal

The families of Quadri Ogunsina, photographer/Video camera man, Jamiu Kehinde, an Ifa Priest, Waliu Bamidele, an Ifa Priest apprentice, and Olalekan Hamsat, an applicant, have made a passionate appeal to Oluwasina Ogungbade, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ogun State to intervene by instituting an independent investigation to ascertain the veracity of the accusation leveled against their boys accused of cultism.

According to Mrs Rukayat sister to Quadri Ogunsina and the spokespersons for the four families, she said, “The boys were arrested at a party they attended somewhere around Itoku Market in Abeokuta by men of the Anti Cultism department, led by CSP Tosin SHOBIYI, based on a false charge brought against them by one Toyin aka Elewure, claiming they were cult boys who came to her house with dangerous weapons to molest her and breaking her louvres totalling ₦128,000.”

Mrs Rukayat however said her statement was far from the truth, rather, “It is a common knowledge to residents of her Community that Madam Toyin aka Elewure has accused her 3 Children Ahmed, Niyi and Deji, as notorious AYE cults members, and have disowned them with an oath in the court.

“What actually happened was that her boys wanted to lure our children into their cult but were vehemently rejected and rebuffed which they see as an insult they could not stomach, which was reported to their mother who in turn used her influence to invite anti cultism department of the Nigerian Police to teach our children a ‘hard lesson’, according to her.” Rukayat added.

She further said, the boys claimed they were tortured at the Ijemo Annex to confess they were Cultists, while Waliu said he was forced to mention names from already prepared list given to him by police, before they were arraigned at Magistrate court 3 Ishabo, Abeokuta.

The four families are therefore calling on the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to kindly look into the matter, so their children can be given bail, while thorough investigation can be carried out to establish the truth, stressing that the conditions of the boys at the moment is quite disheartening with many of them having health issues, they explained.
