Akwa Ibom Judiciary Welcomes Two New Chief Registrars
The Akwa Ibom State judiciary has announced the appointment of two new chief registrars, a significant move aimed at strengthening justice administration within the state.
The newly appointed chief registrars are Winifred Umohandi for the High Court of Justice and Imaobong Okokon Essien for the Customary Court of Appeal, Akwa Ibom State.
During the swearing-in ceremony held at her office in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Judge Ekaete Fabian-Obot commended the appointees for their unwavering determination, zeal, and dedication to duty. She urged them to uphold high standards of creativity and innovation in their new roles of heightened responsibilities.
Expressing confidence in their capabilities, Chief Judge Fabian-Obot emphasized her optimism that their promotions would inspire increased productivity and meaningful contributions to the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary.
Prior to their appointment, both Winifred Umohandi and Imaobong Okokon Essien subscribed to the Oath of Office and the Judicial Oath, pledging to execute their duties faithfully, honestly, and impartially, without succumbing to personal interests that could compromise their official conduct or decisions.
Winifred Umohandi, born on October 4, 1972, holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Law. She previously served in an acting capacity as Chief Registrar, Akwa Ibom State High Court, before her elevation to the substantive position.
Imaobong Okokon Essien, born on January 26, 1967, boasts both Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Law from the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Prior to her appointment, she served as Deputy Chief Registrar, Probate Directorate, demonstrating extensive experience in the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary since April 1993.
The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including Judges of the Akwa Ibom State High Court, Magistrates, Heads of Directorates, the Executive Secretary, and members of the Akwa Ibom State Judicial Service Commission, among other invited guests.
