Akpabio Sues Senator Natasha Over Satirical Apology, Seeks Court Order for Removal

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete her satirical apology post from social media.
Apology Defied Existing Gag Order
Akpoti-Uduaghan posted a sarcastic video on April 27, apologizing “for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect.” However, Justice Binta Nyako had earlier barred both senators from making public comments about their legal dispute, especially the ongoing sexual harassment case.
Akpabio’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), argued that the post violated the court’s order and disrespected judicial authority.
Akpabio Demands Public Retraction and Apology
Akpabio’s legal team requested the court to direct Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the post from all platforms, publish an apology in two national newspapers, and submit an affidavit confirming full compliance.
Legal Dispute Stems from Senate Feud
Tensions escalated after Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment in March, shortly before her Senate suspension. The legal showdown between the two senators has since captured public attention.
