Again, London Court Denies Ekweremadu Bail, Cites EFCC Letter

Former Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, has been denied bail by the Central Criminal Court, London, on the grounds that he is a flight risk.

The decision was taken after the court cited the letter and assets forfeiture proceedings against the senator by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

This was despite letters written by the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and the Attorney-General of the Federal that Ekweremadu was not a flight risk, his lawyer revealed.

He lamented that the bail denial came despite sureties and securities of nearly half a million pounds sterling from 11 people were provided to secure Ekweremadu’s release on bail.

The lawyer, however, stated that the option to tag the senator with an electronic monitor to follow his movement was given by the court.

Ekweremadu is currently held in the UK after a young man from Nigeria accused the senator and his family of trying to harvest his organ.

Reports revealed that Ekweremadu’s daughter, Sonia, needed an organ donor to help her ailing situation, which was why the boy was flown to the UK.

However, upon arrival, the boy reportedly told authorities that he was tricked into the UK for his organs to be harvested by the Ekweremadu family.

Meanwhile, OAP Daddy Freeze has stated that the whole story looked twisted, adding that the boy does not sound or look like a 15 year old boy.

Freeze, who also described the boy as a hustler, asserted that the Ekweremadus are suffering from the unintended consequences of being part of a political structure that benefited them at the expense of the boy.
