AfBA President Salutes NBA On 2025 Annual General Conference

The African Bar Association (AfBA) has extended warm felicitations to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as it holds its 2025 Annual General Conference in Enugu. The week-long conference began on August 22 and will end on August 28, under the theme “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”

In his goodwill message, AfBA President, High Chief Ibrahim Eddy Mark, described the NBA as one of Africa’s most vibrant legal communities. He said the conference provides an opportunity for Nigerian lawyers to showcase excellence, engage in robust intellectual discourse, and reaffirm their commitment to justice and democracy.

According to him, the theme is both timely and visionary. He stressed that the legal profession in Africa faces daunting challenges. These include governance issues, constitutional crises, transactional crimes, human rights violations, and threats to judicial independence. Therefore, the call to “Stand Out, Stand Tall” reminds lawyers to act with courage, integrity, and professionalism.

Furthermore, the AfBA President commended the NBA’s leadership and members for their steadfast defense of justice and commitment to nation-building. He noted that their contributions strengthen the African legal profession’s global relevance. He emphasized that the NBA continues to stand as a beacon of excellence and a standard-bearer for the continent’s legal community.

In addition, Mark urged participants at the conference to deliberate fruitfully and produce impactful resolutions. He expressed optimism that their outcomes would renew solidarity and position the Nigerian Bar at the forefront of African legal advocacy.

While congratulating the NBA once again, AfBA assured the association of its unwavering partnership in promoting justice and humanity. Mark declared that the collaboration between the NBA and AfBA symbolizes the unity and strength of Africa’s legal fraternity.
