The President of the African Bar Association (AfBA), High Chief Ibrahim Eddy Mark, has led a high-level visit to Ghana as part of preparations for the upcoming AfBA conference.
Accompanied by Rudolf Ezeani, AfBA Vice President for Administration and Executive Director, the President met with Ghana’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Hon. Dominic Ayine (MP), in Accra.
The AfBA delegation was warmly received by the Minister and his team, including Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai and Director of Public Prosecutions, Yvonne Atakora-Obuobisa.
During the visit, the Ghanaian Attorney General pledged his full support for the upcoming AfBA conference and confirmed his intention to attend.
Later that day, AfBA officials held a consultative meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and the Greater Accra Bar, which comprises 80 percent of Ghana’s practising lawyers.
The GBA team was led by its President, Efua Ghartey, and General Secretary, Kwaku Baffour. The Greater Accra Bar was represented by its President, Isabel Boateng, Vice President Andrew Obeng, and other key officers.
Both meetings focused on strategic collaboration, regional legal cooperation, and enhanced participation in the forthcoming AfBA event.
The visit helped to strengthen ties between AfBA and legal stakeholders in Ghana, especially ahead of the continental gathering of lawyers.
According to the AfBA President, the consultative engagements were fruitful and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to pan-African legal development.
Group photographs were taken to commemorate the AfBA visit and the show of support by Ghana’s legal leadership.
The AfBA leadership emphasised the importance of continued collaboration and expressed appreciation for the hospitality received throughout the visit.
