Afam Okeke Visits NCC, Pledges Support for Commission

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abuja Branch (Unity Bar), Afam O. Okeke, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).
Okeke informed The Metro Lawyer (TML) that the visit was necessary to identify with the commission and seek greater partnership between the organizations.
The Unity Bar entourage which included the immediate past Chairman of the branch, Moses A. Ebute, SAN, the Secretary, Musa Isiaka and the Public Secretary, Michael Awo Ejeh was received by the Director General of the NCC, John O. Asein and officials of the commission.
Okeke congratulated the DG on his re-appointment and informed him that the visit was in solidarity with him as a member of the bar. He informed him that the Abuja branch of the NBA is available to support the commission. He also canvassed for attendance of NBA meetings by Lawyers in the commission, while encouraging them to pay their bar practice fees and branch dues in order to reap benefits accruing to members in good standing.
Asein on his part, welcomed the delegation and expressed profound gratitude for the visit. He urged for greater collaboration especially with the Young Lawyers Forum on Intellectual Property Law. He informed the meeting that the Copyright Bill has scaled the second reading at the national assembly and if assented to by the President, would bring greater value to the commission’s operations.
