Adamawa Chief Judge Assures Legal Support To YEDC Operations

The Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, has pledged the judiciary’s full support to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), provided its activities remain within the law.

Justice Abdulrahman gave this assurance during a courtesy visit by YEDC’s Management Team, led by Managing Director and CEO, Engr. Abdulrahman Isa, at the Adamawa State High Court Complex.

During the visit, Engr. Isa highlighted significant challenges affecting YEDC’s operations across Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe States. He noted the company’s limited allocation of 3.5% of the nation’s total power generation and the difficulty of equitably distributing electricity within its franchise areas.

He also underscored the impact of poverty, insecurity, and economic hardship on cost recovery and service sustainability, saying, “We must continue delivering electricity services to sustain the value chain and support economic activities in the region.”

Engr. Isa further raised concerns about energy theft, infrastructure vandalism, and assaults on YEDC personnel, while commending the judiciary’s role in resolving disputes involving the company.

In her response, Justice Abdulrahman praised YEDC’s adherence to legal practices and assured continued judicial cooperation. “As long as you operate within the ambit of the law, you will have our full support. Most of your cases show you are always on the right side of the law,” she affirmed.

YEDC remains committed to providing essential electricity services to millions of people across its operational states, despite the numerous challenges it faces.
