Achimugu: Lawyers Challenge Businesswoman’s Arrest Declaration And Home Invasion EFCC

Twenty constitutional lawyers and activists led by Barr. Okere Kingdom have vowed to fight EFCC’s charges against businesswoman Aisha Achimugu. They plan to file multiple lawsuits in court to quash the allegations. The EFCC declared Achimugu wanted a few days ago on allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale released the declaration via the agency’s X handle on Friday.
The group calls the charges baseless and an abuse of state power. The lawyers claim the EFCC’s actions lack due process and violate constitutional rights. They argue that the agency unjustly invaded Achimugu’s home and office in Asokoro, Abuja, causing undue harm to her family. The legal team says such actions intimidate business owners and erode public trust. The lawyers plan to use court action to restore Achimugu’s reputation and stop further harassment.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the consortium of lawyers said, “We will commence legal actions to quash the false allegations and halt further state interference.” They described the EFCC’s move as organized intimidation and a politically motivated act aimed at undermining a hardworking woman. The group stressed that Achimugu is not a politician and that her business success deserves protection from unjust persecution.
The group also noted that the EFCC’s declaration followed an incident where the agency raided Achimugu’s property and harassed her aged mother. They warned that such actions return Nigeria to dark days of state overreach and abuse of power. The lawyers intend to pursue all legal remedies to secure Achimugu’s rights and protect her reputation.
Legal experts expect the court to scrutinize the EFCC’s basis for its actions. The legal battle will start this week. The group calls on the judiciary to act swiftly against any violation of constitutional rights. The case has drawn nationwide attention and may set a crucial precedent for protecting business owners against state abuses.
