Abbas Flags Off Construction Of Judges’ Quarters Access Roads, Commends Wike’s Efforts

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, officially launched the construction of access roads from Ring Road 1 to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District, Abuja, along with the internal roads within the Quarters. Abbas, represented by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), citing it as crucial for economic growth and the well-being of residents.

Abbas lauded the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, crediting him for driving transformative projects that address the city’s growing needs. He commended Wike’s initiatives, which align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to close the infrastructure gap across the nation.

“The Minister’s focus on road construction, urban renewal, and environmental sustainability demonstrates a clear vision for turning Abuja into a world-class city,” Abbas stated. He highlighted ongoing projects, including road rehabilitations and the removal of illegal structures, as key components of Wike’s commitment to making Abuja more functional and efficient.

Senator David Jimkuta, Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils, and Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, Chairman of the House Committee on FCT, also praised the minister’s efforts and assured the continued support of the National Assembly for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

In his remarks, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for its swift approval of FCT appropriation acts and pledged to complete the access road project by May 2025, to coincide with President Tinubu’s second-year anniversary. Wike reassured that the project is adequately funded, with 70% of the required budget already secured.

“We are committed to ensuring timely completion, and the contractor will have all the necessary resources to deliver,” Wike added.

The project is expected to improve accessibility and enhance living conditions within the Judges’ Quarters, marking another milestone in the FCT’s infrastructural development.
