NDLEA Nabs Thai Woman With 43 Parcels Of Canadian Loud At Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 24-year-old Thai national, Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat, for attempting to smuggle 43 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis weighing 46.60kg, into Nigeria via Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
Wimonnat, who was caught during passenger clearance on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha, admitted she was hired by a drug cartel and was promised $3,000 for a successful delivery.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives foiled an attempt to ship 68 parcels of Ghanaian Loud (42.2kg) to London, UK, concealed in crated cartons at the Lagos airport. Three suspects, including a freight agent and two dispatch riders, were initially arrested before the mastermind, Samuel Bitris, was tracked and apprehended at his residence in Ajah, Lagos.
Additionally, NDLEA officers at the Port Harcourt Port Complex, Onne, Rivers State, intercepted 49,000 pills of Tamol (Tramadol 225mg) hidden in a 40ft container during a joint examination with the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies.
Further arrests included:
517kg of skunk seized in Nasarawa State from two suspects, Bello Adamu (40) and Pius Azuka (42), on the Kokona/Keffi route.
62.7kg of skunk intercepted in Niger State from two suspects, Usman Ruwa (43) and Yunusa Haruna (45), traveling in a Toyota Corolla along Sabon Asibiti road, Kontagora.
Meanwhile, NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign continued with sensitization programs across schools, worship centers, and workplaces, reaching students at institutions such as Maku Grammar School, Oyo State; Comprehensive Secondary School, Imo State; and Jama’atu Islamiyya Secondary School, Kogi State.
