BREAKING: Lagos Lawmakers Impeach Speaker Mudashiru Obasa

In a dramatic turn of events, the Lagos State House of Assembly has impeached its Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, over allegations of abuse of office and gross misconduct.

The impeachment, confirmed by multiple House correspondents, occurred on Monday afternoon. Obasa, who has served as Speaker since 2015 and represents the Agege Constituency 1, was first elected to the House in 2007.

In a historic move, the lawmakers swore in Mojisola Miranda, the Deputy Speaker and representative of Apapa Constituency 1, as the new Speaker. This makes Miranda the first female Speaker in the history of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
