Darkoo Accuses Peter Okoye Of Copyright Sabotage Over Removed Song
Singer Darkoo has accused Peter Okoye, one-half of the P-Square duo, of sabotaging her newly released song “Focus On Me” by having its video taken down from YouTube over copyright infringement claims.
The track, released on January 2, 2024, was reportedly removed for six days, an action Darkoo attributes to Peter’s dissatisfaction with her decision not to feature him on the song.
In a viral post on her X handle, Darkoo expressed frustration over the incident, revealing that she had obtained all necessary clearance for the sample used in the song. Despite this, she alleges that Peter acted out of spite because she didn’t comply with his request for a feature.
According to the singer, Peter demanded to be part of the track and even created a verse for it. He also instructed her not to involve his brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye, in the project.
“My music video was taken down for 6 days by Peter of P-SQUARE in an attempt to completely sabotage the song. I have all necessary clearance for the sample. They are receiving 50%, yet Peter wanted to be featured on the song,” Darkoo wrote.
She added:
“Even when I offered him a spot on the remix, it wasn’t enough for him. Instead, he chose to act out of anger and try to sabotage it because I didn’t bow to his demands. It is sad and disappointing.”
As of now, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has not responded to the allegations. This incident comes amid past controversies involving Peter and his twin brother, Paul, as well as their older brother, Jude Okoye.
Darkoo’s revelations have sparked discussions about copyright disputes and the ethics of leveraging intellectual property in the music industry. Fans are awaiting Peter’s side of the story as the saga unfolds.
