FG Commences Construction Of Smart Police Station In Abuja

The Federal Government has begun constructing a smart divisional police headquarters and six residential quarters for rank-and-file officers in Mpape, a community in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

The initiative is part of ongoing reforms to modernize policing in Nigeria by integrating advanced technology and fostering inclusivity.

Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Bolaji Kazeem, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations for the Ministry, highlighted that the project aims to tackle security challenges in Mpape and its environs, ensuring a safer environment for residents and businesses.

“The presence of this divisional headquarters will safeguard citizens commuting daily against dangers like kidnapping, one-chance operations, and robbery, along with other crimes affecting the city,” Gaidam remarked.

The minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming the Nigeria Police Force into a modern institution driven by technology, intelligence, and community-based strategies.

District Head of Mpape, Alhaji Adamu Diga, praised the Ministry, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, and the Nigeria Police Force for upgrading the Mpape Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters, noting that the project would enhance service delivery for residents.

The development marks a significant stride in strengthening security and modernizing policing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory.
