Four Men To Go On Trial Court For likening French first lady ‘To A Paedophile’
Four individuals will appear in a Paris court in 2025 on charges of cyberharassing French First Lady Brigitte Macron. The defendants face accusations of spreading online disinformation and making defamatory comments, including likening her to a “paedophile.” Macron filed a complaint in August 2024 after enduring years of false claims about her gender and criticism of her 24-year age difference with President Emmanuel Macron.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 2025, with the full trial scheduled for October. One defendant, Aurelien Poirson-Atlan, known for conspiracy theories, denies the charges, with his lawyer calling the prosecution politically motivated. This follows a 2024 ruling ordering damages against two women who spread similar disinformation.
