Kylian Mbappé Cleared Of Rape Allegations In Sweden

French football star Kylian Mbappé has been cleared of all rape allegations, following an investigation by the Swedish authorities. The news was confirmed early Thursday, December 12, in a statement by Marina Chirakova, the lead investigator at the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

Chirakova revealed that the investigation into the rape accusations against the Real Madrid forward has been closed due to a lack of sufficient evidence to proceed. She stated, “My assessment is that the evidence is not sufficient to proceed, and the investigation is therefore closed.”

The allegations against Mbappé surfaced on October 15 when Swedish authorities launched an investigation into an alleged incident at a luxury hotel in Stockholm on October 10. According to reports, Mbappé and his entourage had dined at a restaurant before heading to a nightclub. A woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, filed a police complaint on October 12, accusing the footballer of raping her. She presented items, including women’s clothing, as evidence.

The case garnered widespread media attention, casting a shadow over Mbappé’s career. However, the footballer has consistently denied the allegations. His legal team emphasized his commitment to due process throughout the investigation.

Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, Mbappé’s lawyer, reaffirmed that the player was fully cooperative with Swedish authorities. “He prioritizes providing his explanations, if required, to the Swedish judiciary,” Canu-Bernard said. She also strongly rejected media reports suggesting that Mbappé had made statements about the incident.

With the closure of the case and no charges filed, the months-long investigation has come to an end, clearing Mbappé of any wrongdoing.
