Bauchi Judicial Commission Dismisses Shari’ah Court Judge For Misconduct, Introduces Staff Promotion Exams
The Judicial Service Commission in Bauchi State has dismissed Umar Ibrahim, a Shari’ah Court Judge serving at Jalam Shari’ah Court in Dambam Local Government Area, over allegations of gross misconduct.
The Commission’s chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Danjuma, confirmed the dismissal in a statement issued to reporters in Bauchi, emphasising that the decision was taken to uphold ethical and professional standards within the judiciary.
Dr. Danjuma stated that the judge’s alleged actions breached the judiciary’s code of ethics, prompting the Commission to act decisively to preserve public trust in the judicial system.
“The Commission is committed to ensuring that all judicial officers adhere strictly to ethical principles and professional conduct,” Dr. Danjuma said.
In a related development, the Judicial Service Commission has introduced promotion examinations for judicial staff on grade level 8 and above. The exams are designed to assess staff members’ knowledge of the law, judicial processes, ethical standards, and their responsibilities within the judiciary.
The move, according to Dr. Danjuma, aims to enhance the competency and professionalism of judicial officers and staff across the state.
