Kano Reps Partner With Female Lawyers To Enhance Legislative Quality
The Kano State Caucus in the House of Representatives has pledged to collaborate with female lawyers to strengthen legislative processes and promote good governance in Nigeria.
During a recent meeting in Abuja with the Kano State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Nigeria, the Caucus underscored the vital role legal expertise plays in the lawmaking process.
Alhassan Ado Doguwa, leader of the Kano State and Northern Caucus, stressed the importance of engaging legal professionals to address complex legislative issues.
“Despite our experience as lawmakers, there are areas where only close collaboration with legal experts can provide the necessary support,” Doguwa noted, emphasizing the value of professional legal input.
In response, Mrs. Bilkisu Suleman, Chairperson of FIDA’s Kano State Chapter, expressed the organization’s willingness to assist the Caucus. She highlighted FIDA’s dedication to protecting the rights of women, children, and vulnerable groups.
“FIDA remains committed to offering our services whenever needed. Our mission is to safeguard the rights of those most in need,” Suleman stated.
The partnership aims to improve legislative quality by ensuring that laws are just, inclusive, and protective of all Nigerians, particularly marginalized groups. This collaboration is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the legislative framework in addressing key social justice issues.
