Tinubu Celebrates Atiku Abubakar At 78, Praises Role In Nigeria’s Democracy
President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to Atiku Abubakar on the occasion of his 78th birthday.
In a statement released by Sunday Dare, Tinubu’s special adviser on media and communications, the president lauded the former vice president’s longstanding contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development since 1999.
“The President acknowledges many special moments shared with Wazirin Adamawa as founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), united in their mission to build a better future for Nigerians,” the statement said. “He also recognizes their recent engagements as political opponents in the last presidential election.”
Tinubu praised Abubakar’s dedication to public service and philanthropy, offering prayers for continued good health and happiness.
Atiku Abubakar served as Nigeria’s vice president from 1999 to 2007 under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In recent years, he emerged as the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, though he was unsuccessful in both contests.
Despite political rivalry, Tinubu’s message reflects mutual respect, highlighting Abubakar’s enduring influence in Nigeria’s political landscape.
