Yahaya Bello Appears Before EFCC Again
Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has once again presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to address allegations of misappropriation of public funds.
Bello arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team. His visit comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent dismissal of a suit challenging the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency.
Sources indicate that speculation had swirled last week about Bello’s impending appearance at the EFCC, but his media aides remained tight-lipped when approached for comments.
At the last court hearing on November 14, the EFCC requested an adjournment in the fresh case it filed against Bello, citing the 30-day window for the summons previously issued. The case, which is before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, was adjourned to November 27 for Bello’s arraignment.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has admitted Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to administrative bail, while seeking an extension of time for the former governor to appear before the court.
The legal proceedings continue to draw attention as the trial unfolds, with many awaiting the outcome of the high-profile case.
