NBA Secures Release Of Four Minors In Maiduguri Protest Trial
The NBA Citizens Liberties Committee (NBA-CLC), under the leadership of Mazi Afam Osigwe, achieved another victory on November 21, 2024, by securing the release of four minors during the ongoing trial of #EndBadGovernance protesters in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The legal team, led by NBA-CLC Chairman Nuhu Egya, Esq., and supported by A. A. Askira, Daniel Kip, and other lawyers, successfully argued for the minors’ release, which was granted by the Honourable Court. Collaborating with Hope Behind Bars Africa, the NBA-CLC also moved an application for bail for other defendants. The ruling on the bail application has been scheduled for December 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, the hearing of the charges against the defendants has been adjourned to January 13 and 14, 2025, before High Court 10, presided over by Hon. Justice M. A. Ali.
This marks a significant milestone for the NBA-CLC, which has, within just four days of being in Maiduguri, secured the release of a total of 10 minors while awaiting further rulings for other protesters still in detention.
