Dentons Appoints First Female Chair In Australia

Global law firm Dentons has announced the election of Amber Warren as its new Australia chair, marking the first time a woman has held this position. Warren, who has been with Dentons for over 20 years and a partner since 2010, will begin her two-year term on January 1, 2025. Her leadership roles within the firm have included various key positions on both the Australian and global boards.

Warren’s appointment follows a significant year for Dentons, which earlier named Kate Barton as its global CEO. Reflecting on her new role, Warren expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her by the partners and emphasized Dentons’ recent growth. “Dentons has nearly doubled its revenue in the past five years, expanding existing practices and building new ones while maintaining a reputation for client service, innovation, and a strong, inclusive culture,” Warren said.

She also highlighted her commitment to leading the firm through continued growth and change, aiming to achieve further successes for both clients and staff.

Dentons has been expanding its Australian operations, including the recruitment of a team from Holding Redlich in October, the addition of two new partners and 17 promotions in July, and the acquisition of two partners and a team of nine from global firm Kennedys in March.

Global CEO Kate Barton congratulated Warren on her historic appointment, praising her consistent contributions to the firm’s growth and client service. “Amber has significantly impacted our people and client experiences, and I look forward to further collaboration as we enhance Dentons’ presence in Australia and globally,” Barton stated.
