NBA President Afam Osigwe Inaugurates Constitution Amendment Committee For Governance Reforms

 

In a move aimed at advancing effective governance and reform within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has inaugurated the NBA Constitution Amendment Committee. This initiative underscores his commitment to fostering a more progressive and accountable legal body and highlights his administration’s dedication to enhancing governance structures and supporting professional excellence in Nigeria’s legal sector.

The committee’s primary role is to review the current NBA constitution, identify necessary amendments, and ensure it meets the evolving needs of the association and its members. This aligns with Osigwe’s vision of a dynamic legal community that effectively addresses challenges faced by lawyers and upholds professional integrity.

Led by Abdul Mohammed, SAN, as Chairman, the committee features an accomplished team including:
– Alternate Chair: Stanley Chi Dozie Imo, SAN
– Secretary: Paul Daudu, SAN
– Alternate Secretary: Mrs. T.E.N. Udo

Committee Members include: Sam Olakanmi Falade, Dawud Sulayman, Bernard Nafagha, Luka Haruna, Olawunmi Adeola, Umoh Edet, Kola Maroof Adeniran, John Mayowa Dada, Ummi Waziri Kolo, Confidence Nwoka, Lucky Ekarume, Esther Jimoh, Abdulrasheed Usman, Edwin Jack Ibiomgbo, Prof. John Olowole Akintayo, Emmanuel Uti, Precious Nwadimuya, Abubakar Ghjam, Lawal Garuba Hudu, Omotayo Olatubosun, Altine Ibrahim, and Emmanuella Iveren Kumen.

Osigwe’s directive to the committee is to cultivate a transparent, forward-thinking framework that reinforces accountability within the NBA, empowering its members and supporting sustainable growth. The committee is expected to deliver comprehensive recommendations that promote effective governance and address the needs of the association’s diverse membership.
