Niger State Chief Judge Urges Fair Play and Unity at 2024 National Judiciary Sports Competition
Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik, has encouraged participants in the 2024 National Judiciary Sports Competition to honor game rules in the spirit of national unity. This year’s competition, taking place in Minna, Niger State, features participants from fifteen states and several appellate courts.
Justice Abdulmalik, represented by Justice Mukail Abdullahi, highlighted the event as a platform to strengthen unity among judiciary staff across Nigeria. Justice Mukail emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules to meet the competition’s unifying goals.
“The Nigerian Judiciary Games provide an opportunity for us to come together in the spirit of friendly competition. As an arm of government, the Judiciary is often tasked with making weighty decisions that impact the lives of individuals and society as a whole,” Justice Halima remarked.
She added, “Sports uniquely bring people together, fostering relationships, unity, and teamwork. Let us strive for excellence while supporting and encouraging each other on and off the field.”
Justice Abdulmalik praised the event organizers for their commitment to the well-being and physical fitness of judiciary staff, recognizing Niger State as a fitting host for the games aimed at promoting national cohesion.
NASAJ President Sunday Noah underscored the health benefits of the games for judiciary staff since the competition’s inception, expressing gratitude to Governor Umar Mohammed Bago and Justice Abdulmalik for their support.
The 30th annual event includes competitions in various sports: football, handball, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, badminton, scrabble, chess, ayo, draughts, and swimming. The opening football game between the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal ended in a 0-0 draw, while the Body of Benchers took first place in the march-past competition.
