Okey Agu To Speak On Migrants’ Rights Framework At NILA Conference
Mr. Okey Agu, a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), is set to speak at the upcoming Nigerian Immigration Law and Policy Conference. With a distinguished legal background, Agu has been a prominent figure in research and policy, formerly serving as Coordinator of NIALS’s Centre for Case Law and Litigation (CCL&L). Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989, he holds Master’s degrees in Human Rights, Humanitarian and Refugee Studies and Law from the University of Lagos. Agu is currently completing his Doctoral program in Law through a NIALS and Obafemi Awolowo University partnership.
Presently, Agu serves on national assignment with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), where he works as the Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary and Director of the Commission’s Monitoring Department. His session at the conference will address the sub-theme, “Strengthening Policy and Legislative Frameworks for Migrants’ Rights in Nigeria,” where he will draw on his extensive experience to offer insights into advancing protections and legal support for migrant communities.
The NILA conference, themed “New Realities in the Nigerian Immigration Law and Policy Stratosphere,” will bring together key stakeholders to address evolving issues in Nigerian immigration law, with Agu’s presentation set to contribute valuable perspectives on policy and legislative reforms.
