Bobrisky Arrested At Seme Border While Attempting To Flee Nigeria, Confirms NIS
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser Bobrisky, also known as Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
Seme border, located near Nigeria’s boundary with Benin, is about 30 minutes from Badagry on the coastal road between Lagos and Cotonou. In a statement released on Monday evening, the NIS revealed that the social media personality was intercepted during an attempt to exit Nigeria.
According to the NIS, Bobrisky is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and action. The statement emphasized the agency’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders.
“In line with its commitment to border security, the Nigeria Immigration Service intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, otherwise known as Bobrisky, at Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country,” the statement read. “He is a person of interest in recent matters of public concern and is currently undergoing interrogation.”
The NIS assured the public that it would remain professional in its duties of safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.
Bobrisky is currently under investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives alongside the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) over allegations of bribery. This follows a viral audio recording shared by activist VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.
Bobrisky has since denied the claims, labeling the recording as “fake” and threatening legal action against the activist for defamation.
