JUSUN Trains 100 Members On ICT Skills To Prepare For The Future Of Work
The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has launched a week-long training program to equip 100 of its members with essential digital skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The training, held in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), is designed to prepare judiciary workers for the evolving demands of the digital world.
JUSUN, a trade union representing workers in federal and state judiciary establishments in Nigeria, organised the training to address the impact of digitalisation on the judiciary. Speaking at the opening session, JUSUN National President, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, described the initiative as a proactive response to the Federal Government’s policy to automate the judiciary system.
“The digitalisation of the judiciary system posed a significant challenge to our members, with the potential threat of job loss. However, we saw this as an opportunity for growth,” said Adamu. “This training is a testament to our commitment to our members’ welfare. We are equipping them with the skills to thrive in a digitalized judiciary system, ensuring job security while enhancing efficiency.”
The program is part of the NCC-DBI’s Advanced Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADEPTI), which focuses on digital skills, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Over the next five days, 100 JUSUN members from across the country will undergo intensive training to stay relevant in the digital age.
Adamu expressed gratitude to the DBI for supporting the initiative, emphasising that DBI is Nigeria’s leading centre for ICT training. He urged other government ministries, private organisations, and unions to take advantage of DBI’s expertise in workforce training.
“The world is going digital, and ICT will shape the future of all businesses and human interactions. Nigeria’s judiciary must keep pace with these changes, and this training is a step towards building a modern, efficient system,” Adamu added.
Representing DBI’s President and CEO, David Desert, the Group Head of Corporate Services, Viola Askia Usoro, highlighted the importance of digital skills in today’s workforce, particularly within the judiciary. She encouraged the participants to fully utilise the opportunity to enhance their capabilities.
The training is fully sponsored by the Nigerian Communications Commission and is part of a broader effort to modernise Nigeria’s judiciary system, making it more responsive to the needs of its citizens.
