FHC Orders VeryDarkMan To Remove Defamatory Posts Against Femi Falana Within 21 Days
A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an interim order instructing social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to remove all defamatory content posted about prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), from his social media platforms within 21 days.
The order, granted by Justice M.O. Dawodu, restrains VeryDarkMan from further publishing defamatory material against Falana and directs him to delete all videos and comments posted on September 24, 2024, across platforms including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
This ruling is part of a lawsuit filed by Falana under case number ID/8586GCM/2024. The court’s directive follows allegations made by VeryDarkMan in a video where he accused Falana of receiving N10 million from controversial celebrity Bobrisky to influence legal outcomes.
In his ruling, Justice Dawodu stated, “The Applicant has a legal right to be protected from defamation. There are substantial issues to be tried in this matter, and the balance of convenience favors the Applicant.”
In addition to the order for removal of content, the court also granted permission for Falana’s legal team to serve court documents to VeryDarkMan through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, as the defendant’s physical address could not be confirmed.
This development comes amid ongoing investigations into claims made in the video that Bobrisky paid bribes to secure a presidential pardon and evade money laundering charges.
