NBA President Congratulates Ghana Bar Association’s First Female President-Elect, Efua Ghartey

 

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), has extended warm congratulations to Efua Ghartey, who was recently elected as the first female President of the Ghana Bar Association.

In a congratulatory message, Osigwe hailed her election as a historic moment for the legal profession in Ghana and a major breakthrough for women in leadership across Africa.

Osigwe described Ghartey’s victory as a “significant milestone” that showcases the values of equality, competence, and dedication within the legal profession. He emphasized that her election is a source of inspiration for women in law, as well as other sectors, to pursue and attain leadership roles.

“Your election represents a beacon of progress, demonstrating that the principles of equality, competence, and dedication can pave the way for transformative leadership in our profession,” said Osigwe.

As the first woman to hold the presidency of the Ghana Bar Association, Ghartey has “shattered a long-standing barrier,” Osigwe noted, adding that her achievement will inspire future generations of women in law. He also praised her distinguished service and dedication to justice and the rule of law.

The NBA President expressed hope for increased collaboration between the legal bodies of Nigeria and Ghana under Ghartey’s leadership, believing that her tenure would strengthen the legal systems across Africa.
