Oyo PDP Chieftain Released By His Abductors
The Oyo State Police Command announced on Thursday morning that Chief Benedict Akika, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the state, has been released by his abductors.
According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, Chief Akika was freed on the evening of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, following days of intensive efforts by the police’s tactical, intelligence, and operational teams.
The police confirmed that Chief Akika is currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with his family.
“The politician was released after an extensive manhunt, which saw police teams comb through forests in Ijagun, Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, Ore in Ondo State, and Uselu in Edo State,” the statement read.
The police further noted that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
