Jude Obiora Ezeobi, Esq. Refutes Scandalous Allegations In Vanguard Newspaper
Abuja based legal practitioner, Jude Obiora Ezeobi has strongly refuted allegations made against him in a recent publication circulated in various public spaces, including the Vanguard newspaper on September 11, 2024. In a statement sent to The Metro Lawyer newsdesk, Ezeobi dismissed the claims as entirely false and baseless, expressing disappointment that individuals involved, instead of focusing on mourning, are using a grievous situation to tarnish his reputation.
Acknowledging the sensitive nature of the circumstances, Ezeobi refrained from engaging directly with the grieving family. He, however, criticized unnamed individuals whom he accused of exploiting the situation to launch a campaign of calumny against him. “I think these persons ought to be grieving and focused on laying to rest an illustrious and dearly beloved daughter to whom I used to be married,” he stated.
Ezeobi also revealed that similar defamatory statements had been published against him in the past but were swiftly retracted, followed by a public apology, after he challenged their veracity. He further disclosed that he has initiated legal proceedings with a ₦1 billion lawsuit against the publishers of the latest allegations under SUIT NO.: CV/3964/2024.
He urged the public to disregard the publication, describing it as entirely false. Ezeobi also called on the media to uphold their responsibility by ensuring balanced reporting and giving individuals the opportunity to respond to allegations before publication.
“I am currently consulting widely and shall make further statements as the need arises,” he concluded.
