NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe Pays Tribute To Late Legal Icon Yunus Ustaz, SAN
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Yunus Ustaz, SAN, describing him as a “towering legal icon” and a beloved leader of the NBA Kaduna Branch.
In an official statement addressed to the members of the NBA Kaduna Branch, Mazi Osigwe expressed shock at the news of Ustaz’s death, stating that the Bar has lost a highly respected legal luminary whose contributions to the profession were unparalleled.
“The Bar has lost a towering legal icon, who has now returned to his maker for eternal rest. Many drew inspiration from his shining example. Until the very end, he championed and upheld the noble principles of the legal profession,” Osigwe said.
Yunus Ustaz, SAN, who was a Life Bencher and a distinguished leader of the NBA Kaduna Branch, was lauded for his exceptional service to the legal profession. Mazi Osigwe highlighted Ustaz’s dedication, fairness, sincerity, and kindness, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and the wider legal community.
“He was a legal giant who steadfastly upheld the virtues of truth, fairness, sincerity, and, above all, an unwavering kindness that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to the legal landscape and the nation as a whole will be long remembered and revered,” the NBA President added.
Osigwe acknowledged the deep void that Ustaz’s passing would leave in the hearts of his family, the NBA Kaduna Branch, and the entire legal community in Nigeria. He expressed hope that the legacy of the late Senior Advocate of Nigeria would continue to inspire future generations of lawyers.
“As we pray that the Almighty forgives him all his shortcomings and grants him al Jannah Firdaus, we also offer our sincere condolences to his beloved family and the members of the NBA Kaduna Branch,” he concluded.
