36 State Attorneys-General, Key Stakeholders To Meet In Abuja For Anti-Corruption Summit
Attorneys-general and Justice Commissioners from Nigeria’s 36 states, along with major justice sector stakeholders, are set to converge in Abuja on Monday, September 9, 2024, for a crucial roundtable on tackling corruption.
The one-day event, themed “Building a Unified Front Against Corruption in Nigeria,” is organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) with backing from the MacArthur Foundation.
ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), highlighted the summit’s goal of strengthening anti-corruption efforts across all tiers of government and fostering collaboration between the ICPC and state Attorneys-General to advance the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS).
Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), will be the special guest of honour, while former AGF, Kanu Agabi (SAN), will deliver the keynote address.
A panel discussion, led by Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), former Lagos State Attorney-General, will include notable figures like ex-ICPC Chairman, Ekpo Nta, and legal experts Prof. Mohammed Tabiu (SAN) and Prof. Abdulkarim Kana (SAN Designate).
The summit aims to address systemic issues within Nigeria’s justice system that perpetuate corruption and develop strategies to enhance cooperation between the ICPC and state governments for more effective corruption prevention.
