Wike Unveils New Plan To Combat “One Chance” Crime In Abuja
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced a comprehensive plan to tackle the ongoing “one chance” crime in Abuja by constructing three state-of-the-art bus and taxi terminals. These terminals are designed to enhance the city’s transportation system and boost public safety.
Wike revealed this initiative on Monday during the groundbreaking ceremony for a bus and taxi terminal in Abuja’s Central Business District. This terminal is part of a larger project that includes the construction of two additional terminals at Mabushi and Kugbo, which Wike had previously inaugurated.
“We are integrating and improving our transportation system,” Wike stated at the event. “This initiative will address the ‘one chance’ crime and other security concerns associated with public transportation in Abuja.”
Wike highlighted that the FCT Administration (FCTA), with strong backing from President Bola Tinubu, has been expanding road infrastructure throughout the territory. The new and upgraded roads will be connected to these bus terminals, ensuring smoother and safer travel for commuters across the city.
The three bus terminals are slated for completion in 2025, aligning with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for the nation.
Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, expressed confidence in the positive impact these new facilities will have. “These world-class bus terminals will revolutionize Abuja’s transportation network,” Mahmoud said. “This project stands as a testament to our city’s progress and our unwavering commitment to enhancing public services.”
This initiative marks a significant step forward in modernizing Abuja’s transportation infrastructure and improving the safety and well-being of its residents.
